AAUW Mission Statement
AAUW promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education, and
positive societal change. In principle and in practice, AAUW values and
seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation
in the organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation,
national origin or disability.

AAUW-San Francisco History
The San Francisco Branch of AAUW is the second oldest branch in the United
States, organized in 1886 as the Pacific Organization of Collegiate Alumnae.
It later became the California Branch ACA and The San Francisco Bay Branch
of AAUW. The Branch was and still is a pioneer in expanding women’s
roles in California education.

positive societal change." AAUW, founded in 1881, is open to all graduates
with an associate degree
or the equivalent from educational institutions that offer recognized associate, baccalaureate, or higher degrees.
In principle and practice AAUW values and seeks
a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation
in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual
orientation, national origin, disability or class. AAUW-California is
the state's most active and diverse organization for women. If you're
